Reflecting on a year of progress and possibility for Women's wealth

Reflecting on a year of progress and possibility for Women’s wealth

A Letter to the Guardian Women Community

As 2024 ends, I’ve been reflecting lately on the incredible strides women are making in the financial world. It’s truly inspiring to see more and more women taking control of their financial destinies, building businesses, and shaping the global economy.

You understand this power firsthand. You’ve worked hard to achieve your success, and your financial well-being is a testament to your dedication and vision. However, many women still face barriers to accessing the resources and support they need to achieve their financial goals.

Did you know that women are expected to control $4 trillion in assets in Canada by 20281? This represents a seismic shift in the financial landscape, and it’s just the beginning. This shift presents a powerful opportunity: it is a chance for women to define their financial destinies and create a more equitable and prosperous future.

This is why we believe it’s crucial to help women to take control of their finances. We’re committed to providing women with the knowledge, tools, and support they need to make informed financial decisions and build a secure future for themselves and their families.

But our mission extends beyond providing financial advice. We created a community where women can connect, share their experiences, and learn from one another. In 2024, we celebrated and supported women through various engaging events. We had a book club discussion of So Big by Edna Ferber, and we were inspired by the journey of successful tech entrepreneur Sherry Shannon-Vanstone at another event. We also welcomed former editor-in-chief and author Rona Maynard for a truly insightful evening. We were also excited to launch Guardian Women in Vancouver in the spring after three successful years in Toronto.

Our commitment extended beyond our events – we proudly sponsored Women Funding Women, an angel community connecting women investors and founders, and Damenfest, the empowering women’s leadership breakfast at Kitchener Waterloo Oktoberfest.

Together, we can build a network of inspiring women, supporting each other on the path to financial security and success. We encourage you to share this message with other women in your network who might benefit from speaking with us.

Taking charge of your finances is not just about numbers; it’s about taking control of your future. Let us be your partner in this journey.

I wish you holidays filled with goodness and joy.

Sincerely,

Micha Choi, CFA, CFP
