George Mavroudis CA, CFP
President and Chief Executive Officer - Guardian Capital Group, Chief Executive Officer - Guardian Capital LP
George Mavroudis is Chief Executive Officer of Guardian Capital (GCLP) and President and CEO, Guardian Capital Group Limited. He joined GCG in 2005 in a senior executive role, progressively assuming overall responsibility for the business management of the firm’s investment operations, including both institutional and private wealth management.
His career in the financial services industry began in 1992 at Coopers & Lybrand. Prior to joining Guardian, George was a managing director at JPMorgan Fleming Asset Management, holding several senior management roles across their network of offices including London, New York and Toronto. He also served as CEO for Robert Fleming's Russia institutional brokerage and investment banking business, from his base in Moscow from 1995-1998.
George graduated with a B.Comm from University of Toronto. He holds the Chartered Accountant designation (1995). He obtained the Certified Financial Planner designation from the Financial Planners Standards Council (2003).
Senior Vice President and Secretary
Vern Christensen is Senior Vice President and Secretary for Guardian Capital Group Limited (GCG). He joined GCG in 1977 and has responsibility for facilities, office leases and insurance.
Prior to GCG, his industry experience encompassed positions in the taxation, accounting, legal and operations areas.
Vern graduated with a B.Comm from Mount Allison University (1961) and obtained the Chartered Accountant designation (1964).
A. Michael Christodoulou
Senior Vice President , Strategic Planning & Development
Michael (Mike) Christodoulou is Senior Vice President, Strategic Planning & Development. Mike joined Guardian Capital LP in 1995 as a Canadian stock analyst, and was later promoted to portfolio manager, specializing in small- and mid-capitalization stocks.
His career in the financial services industry began in 1993, when he joined the Guardian Group of Funds in the client servicing department. In 2008 Mike was appointed Senior Vice President within the Guardian Capital Group focusing on strategic corporate initiatives. In 2012 he was promoted to Managing Director of Guardian's private wealth business and in this role was responsible for the overall business activities of GCA. In 2014 he was also given responsibility for Guardian Capital Real Estate LP. In 2016 Mike transitioned to Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning & Development, actively involved with the business development of the real estate business. He serves as a member of the board and is an Investment Committee member of Guardian Capital Real Estate LP.
Mike graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from Carleton University (1992). He is a CFA® charterholder (1998).
Senior Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer
Matthew (Matt) Turner is Senior Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer of Guardian Capital Group Limited. He joined Guardian in 2007 and, as the senior officer in charge of all legal and regulatory matters within the Guardian Capital group of companies, is primarily responsible for corporate governance and compliance oversight.
Prior to joining Guardian, Matt held senior legal and compliance roles at CI Investments Inc. and in the investment advisory subsidiaries of Assante Corporation. Previously, he served as Investigation Counsel with the Ontario Securities Commission and as Enforcement Counsel with the Investment Dealers Association of Canada.
Matt holds an MBA degree from the University of Western Ontario (1995), a law degree from the University of Manitoba (1989), and is a CFA® Charterholder (2007). He has been called to the bar in Manitoba (1990) and Ontario (1996).
Chief Financial Officer
Donald Yi is the Chief Financial Officer of Guardian Capital Group Limited (“Guardian”). He joined Guardian in 2006 as Risk Management Officer. In August 2013, Donald was appointed Chief Financial Officer of Guardian. He is responsible for Finance and Information Technology for Guardian and its subsidiaries.
His career in the financial services industry began in 1995 when he joined First Marathon Securities Limited. Previous roles included Director of Finance for Assante Corporation. Directly prior to joining Guardian, Donald held the role of Corporate Controller and Managing Director of Canadian Depository for Securities Limited.
Donald graduated with a Bachelors of Commerce degree from University of Toronto (1992). He holds the Chartered Professional Accountant designation (1995).
Vice President, Human Resources
Leslie Lee is Vice President, Human Resources for Guardian Capital Group Limited (GCG). Leslie joined Worldsource Wealth Management (WWM) in 1997, assuming her current role in 2011. She has responsibility for all human resource functions within Guardian Capital and its various divisions including WWM and its three business units.
Her career in the financial services industry began in 1982 when she joined Imperial Life in their advisor administration and compensation area. Over the next 14 years in the insurance arena other roles included product support analyst (software design for insurance advisors) and advisor support, as well as becoming a licensed insurance advisor. Leslie’s expertise, developed in these varied roles, combined with her early responsibilities with WWM, led to an organic transition into the HR field. Initially she was promoted to Manager Human Resources (2001) for WWM, subsequently expanding these responsibilities to encompass GCG and progressively advancing to senior human resources positions.
Leslie is a member of the Human Resources Professionals Association of Ontario.
